Parental Responsibility

We can advise and assist you in obtaining parental responsibility for your child(ren). If you are married parents of a child then parental responsibility is automatically attributed to both parents. However if you are an unmarried couple, parental responsibility is only attributed to the mother unless the father is named on the birth certificate of any birth registered after the 1st December 2003. An unmarried father can however apply for parental responsibility either by way of a parental responsibility agreement or a court order. We can help you with this process, whether it is through providing you with the relevant advice or by drafting agreements for you. If a dispute arises we can help you by arranging mediation, applying to the Court or through collaborative law.

If  you are a parent or a grandparent we can help you in obtaining contact and residence orders for your child(ren).
