Michael Sieff Foundation

The Michael Sieff Foundation is a registered charity which has been at work since 1987. The Foundation’s current Secretary is Richard White, who is a part-time Consultant with McMillan Williams.

The Foundation is dedicated to improving policy and practice for children and young people in need. Since research shows the best outcomes for children depend on multi-disciplinary work, the Foundation encourages multi-agency collaboration.

The Foundation’s objectives are achieved by bringing together people with wide ranging responsibilities for vulnerable children and young people, resulting in action being taken in practical ways. The Foundation's conferences involve key speakers and delegates from central and local government, the professions, business and academia, the care services and voluntary organisations, who discuss difficult issues fearlessly and openly. The report of each conference is widely distributed and recommendations are vigorously followed up. The Foundation's achievements are often the successful adoption by others of new initiatives-arising from our conferences, and the contacts and networks made-to improve the lives of children in need.

The Foundation has been holding conferences for 20 years. The most recent conference held in April 2007, organized by Richard White, was about the future of care proceedings. The report can be read on the Foundation’s website at www.michaelsieff-foundation.org.uk

The 20th anniversary conference is being held from 19th to 21st November 2007 at Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park on the topic:  "Preventing the abuse of children and young people and protecting their emotional and mental health".  An impressive programme of prominent speakers from central and local government, the professions, business and academia, the care services and voluntary organisations, is now complete. (See the website.)

The Trustees of the Michael Sieff Foundation are most grateful to the partners of McMillan Williams who have generously provided sponsorship, contributing to the successful organization of these conferences.
