I joined McMillan Williams in May 2006 as a paralegal in the Crime Department. I did not have experience of this area of work prior to joining the firm; however the training was excellent from the outset and the other fee earners in the department were more than willing to help me out when I came across new issues. I completed my law degree at the University of Southampton, graduating in 2001. I successfully completed my LPC at the College of Law Guildford in 2003. Prior to working for McMillan Williams I was a marketing executive at the UK’s leading supplier of Dental capitation and insurance. I am interested in beliefs and faiths and obtained a diploma in theology in 2002. Working at McMillan Williams is a challenging experience. It is at times a high pressured environment and there is a steep learning curve. This allows for first class training and as a trainee this is environment is excellent preparation for once you qualify and face the pressures of your own caseload. During my crime seat I was given the opportunity to run magistrates court cases in their entirety. This allowed me to see cases developing from their outset to their conclusion. In the clinical negligence department I have been able to assist on multi-million pound cases and have even had to appear in front of High Court judges. I relish the responsibility that McMillan Williams gives you and have gained a vast amount of knowledge, experience and learnt innumerable skills that will stand me in good stead post qualification.
