Is a consultant of the firm and specialises in Construction Law. He is the principal of our associated firm Charles Brown Solicitors and is based in Sutton.
Charles qualified in 1980 and was a partner and head of the Construction and Dispute Resolution departments of UK and US firms in the city until he established his own firm in 2005
.
His transactional work includes drafting contracts, the appointment of construction consultants, collateral warranties, performance bonds and guarantees, and letters of credit.
He has over 30 years experience in Litigation, Arbitration, Adjudication, Mediation and all forms of ADR in the UK and overseas as party representative, advocate or tribunal member and is regularly appointed as an Adjudicator or Arbitrator.
He has substantial experience in the UK, EU, the Gulf, South East Asia and the USA and has advised on construction issues and represented clients in disputes associated with major developments in the UK and overseas. For 10 years he was the principal advisor to a major UK contractor. Projects and disputes with which he has been instructed have included the construction of a military airbase in the Gulf, the supply of defective heating systems in new house construction by a National House Builder, railway signalling projects in Indonesia and Singapore and the design and construction of the “London Eye”.
Charles has three children. His interest include football and golf, and with family links to the Friuli region of North East Italy his other interest (unsurprisingly) is wine!
