Parisa Costigan qualified as a solicitor in 1990 and has over 17 years experience in dealing with serious personal injury and medical negligence claims.
Formerly a partner at Blake Lapthorn in Hampshire, she joined MW in October 2004 and is now in charge of the firm’s PI/CN department at their South Croydon office.
She is a member of APIL and a member of the Law Society's Personal Injury Panel. She has qualified as a NITA trainer and is a member of CPIL . She also successfully completed an LLM at Nottingham Law School (Nottingham Trent University ) in advanced litigation in 1999.
She has acted in the past mainly for PI claimants in asbestosis claims, serious road traffic accident claims, serious accidents at work and at school as well as holiday claims .She has also conducted stress at work litigation on behalf of claimants. She also recently won a claim against a local health authority and a local authority for a failure to care appropriately for a claimant’s needs in the community.
In medical negligence claims she has acted for claimants in cerebal palsy claims as well as gynaecological claims, MRSA claims and in fact won a claim against a local health authority in this very complicated field.
Parisa acts for clients in both Personal injury and clinical negligence claims and conducts litigation on behalf of her clients under/ by way of legal aid funding private arrangements or no win no fee arrangements
She recently concluded 2 major high court trials one of which being a Cerebral Palsy claim proceeded by way of appeal to the Court of Appeal at which a successful result was obtained for the claimant. She recovered substantial compensation on behalf of her client .
She also works closely with Headway (the firm being on the headway panel) and also has close links with local CABx and a number of other charities such as Headway and SASBAH.
Parisa is married and away from work her interests include walking on the South Downs, cycling, and going out for gourmet meals She is also a keen gardener and enjoys cooking.
