After leaving Grammar school Pam joined British Telecom’s computer division following a limited competition job selection process that gained entrance to their management training programme. There she studied for professional qualifications and worked on both financial reporting and Computer Centre audit.
After leaving British Telecom Pam managed computerised financial ledgers and staff in the finance department of engineers WS Atkins & Partners world wide operation.
On returning to work after starting a family Pam has worked for a publisher, solicitors and a business consultant on a self employed basis before joining McMillan-Williams initially in a part time capacity during 1988.
Her work at McMillan-Williams has developed into a full time role as the practice has grown through expansion and acquisitions. Pam’s management role currently includes three members of staff.
The scope of her current management role includes for example:
- Protecting client financial interests
- Applying Law Society and general accounting rules
- Managing the Accounts Department operation and personnel
- Managing audit recommendations from such professional bodies as Alliotts Chartered Accountants, the Law Society and HM Revenue and Customs
- Dealing with queries from banks, fee earners, support staff, professional manager, practice manager and outside suppliers
- Collating information to enable the practice payroll to be processed
- Providing statistical information to outside bodies e.g. the Office for National Statistics
- Providing regular and ad-hoc financial information for any aspect of the practice
All financial aspects of the McMillan-Williams practice fall within Pam’s role.
Outside interests include: gardening, her horse, cross country walking and swimming. |
