Criminal
Richard Campion is a Consultant to the criminal litigation department. He joined the firm in 2008 after 4 years as a Consultant with Carpenter and Co.
Richard studied at The Council of Legal Education and was called to the Bar at The Inner Temple in 1976 and was in practise as a criminal barrister in London for 3 years before working as a legal adviser to the Committee of Lloyd’s for 4 years. He was then employed as an in-house lawyer by insurance companies and loss adjusters for 15 years.
He was admitted as a Solicitor in 1998 and since then has undertaken a large amount of criminal court advocacy along with attending police stations dealing with a wide variety of cases ranging from indictable only case to summary matters. He has acted for clients on both a publicly funded and private bases. In addition he has dealt with matrimonial matters and present licensing applications at court.
Richard has also appeared in the Crown Court and intends to apply for Higher Rights of Audience. He is a Duty Solicitor on the Croydon, Sutton, Kingston and Wimbledon schemes and regularly attends local courts and police stations. For some years he was a contributor to the Solicitors Journal on criminal law and acted as a staff trainer in law when working in the insurance field.
As hobbies he enjoys playing cricket and also follows rugby and football. He also likes writing and watching 1950’s films.
